and theft have been reported so this is not a new
thing to Thailand or Phuket. However with the increase
of population, the crime rate is bound to increase
.Many people prefer not to live with high surrounding
security fences or walls, instead many opt for a more
open plan kind of living, unfortunately this leaves
them vulnerable to intruders. More worrysome is the
fact that many cases of crime also involve the use
of weapons. There are many stories of crime here in
Phuket involving guns, knives, machetes and other
weapons. Thats not to say that Phuket is any more
or less dangerous then many other world destinations,
but with any country that has a large divide between
rich and poor, it is bound to cause problems. Also
with the current downturn in the global economic situation,
this is bound to aggrivate the problem further

Phuket is still a wonderfull place to live. Its just
that many people get caught up in the idylic paradise
island lifestyle and put little thought to their security
until the worst happends. Well in todays world we
all need to be a little more realistic. Unless you
live at the north or south poles you will always be
at risk from crime. However with an awareness of your
situation and by making some wise decisions you can
dramatically reduce your chances of becoming a victim.
